Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if my pet requires x-rays, surgical/anesthetic procedures, or hospitalization?
Every effort is made to make sure that your pet receives the best veterinary care possible. This means that, in certain situations, it may be in your pet’s best interest to be at a full service veterinary hospital or an emergency hospital.

For pets that require radiographs, surgical/anesthetic procedures, or hospitalization, Dr. Wendy can coordinate with one of the many high quality local veterinary clinics or veterinary specialty/emergency centers to have these services provided. Dr. Wendy can also arrange for your pet to be evaluated at a local veterinary hospital of your choice if you would prefer. In these instances, she continues to stay closely involved in her patient's care and provides any follow-up care once your pet returns home.

What if I have an emergency or urgent medical need?
Door to Door Pet Doctor can handle many minor emergencies. For non-critical emergencies, feel free to call us as our phone messages are checked frequently during regular business hours, and we may be able to schedule a same-day appointment if appropriate. In case of a serious emergency that cannot wait, please call one of the area’s emergency hospitals:

-Metropolitan Emergency Associates Valley Forge PA 610-666-0914
-University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital Philadelphia PA 215-898-4685
-Gwynedd Veterinary Clinic and Emergency Hospital Lansdale PA 215-699-9294
-Langhorne Specialty and Emergency Hospital Langhorne PA 215-750-7884

After your pet has been treated at one of these hospitals, please let us know so we can supervise your pet’s ongoing care and follow-up once he/she comes home.

What methods of payment do you accept?
We currently accept cash and check.  We also accept paypal that you can sign up for if you wish.

What areas does your service cover?

We cover many regions in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties. If you are outside of this radius, we will still come but there will be an additional fee for the extra mileage. You should call us or e-mail us for more details and pricing.

Is a veterinary housecall expensive?

Generally speaking, fees for veterinary services are similar to those at other hospitals. In addition, a standard housecall fee is charged to cover the costs associated with the additional time and transportation expenses unique to a housecall service. However, you and your pet receive more personalized care on a housecall because the veterinarian generally spends more time with you than at a typical hospital appointment. The housecall fee is only charged once per visit regardless of how many pets are seen, and there are discounted examination fees for multiple pet appointments.

How can we prepare for your visit?
In order to maximize our time together, please have your pet on a leash or confined in a small area such as your bathroom at the scheduled time. There is also a form to fill out if your pet is new to us. We can mail, fax, or e-mail this form to you prior to the appointment. You can also download the form on our website. It is helpful if the form is completed prior to our arrival.

Please feel free to call us at 484-342-0505 or e-mail us at wdzvet@yahoo.com for further information.
